This web site is dedicated to the books written and illustrated by Paul Eisenbraun.    Down on the Ranch highlights the experiences Paul had growing up seventh in a family of twelve on a ranch in Western South Dakota in the late 1930s and early 1940s.   The family's many hardships and joys are seen through the eyes of a young boy being brought up on a 2000 acre ranch without any modern conveniences. The books were written for children and the young at heart as a work of historical fiction.   Many children have enjoyed these stories as students of Paul during his 35 years of teaching.   In response to student requests, the stories have been collected in these books for everyone to learn from and enjoy. Down on the Ranch and Beyond is Paul's second book and continues the stories of his life.   The hardships and decisions of daily life and the joys of family and friends connect with the reader in more light hearted yet profound stories.
